We now know all the teams that will compete in the CAN 2025.
The African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025 is set to welcome its 24 nations. This list was finalized following Mozambique’s crucial 2-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau. The tournament will be hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Morocco: Hosts and Central Focus
As the host country, Morocco will naturally attract significant attention. The Atlas Lions will have the chance to shine in front of their home crowd. They aim to improve on their previous exit against South Africa during the last tournament in Côte d’Ivoire. Other key contenders include historical powerhouses like reigning champions Senegal, as well as Algeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria.
Notable Absences
While the lineup is brimming with talent, a few notable absentees stand out. Ghana, a four-time African champion, will not participate. Similarly, Guinea and Cape Verde, who reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition, will be missing. These absences highlight the unpredictability and competitiveness of African qualifiers.
Emerging Stars
The CAN 2025 will also showcase emerging nations. Comoros and Botswana will make their second appearances.
