Ajax forward Brian Brobbey should reconsider a move to the Premier League. West Ham United has shown interest in signing him, but Khalid Boulahrouz believes it’s still too early for such a step.
Khalid Boulahrouz Concerned About Ajax Striker Brian Brobbey
Rondo posed a question to André Ooijer on Monday evening: would you rather play against Brobbey or against Santiago Giménez from Feyenoord? “If I had to choose, I’d rather face Brobbey,” said the former PSV defender. “You know that Giménez can play poorly and still score a goal.”
“In my view, Brobbey is slightly less of a goal-scorer than Giménez. This is evident not only in the stats but also visually,” stated Ooijer. “In England, I think Brobbey would be a striker who engages in physical battles, holds up the ball, and sets up others. He would definitely be in his element there.”
Ooijer believes Brobbey has the potential to be a Premier League sensation: “But he would need to start scoring consistently, which he hasn’t demonstrated frequently yet.” Boulahrouz added, “I think he will find it even harder in the Premier League.”
“We’ve seen him play for Ajax against Brighton, and he struggled there too,” lamented Boulahrouz. “With all due respect, he’s nothing special in England. Players there are twice as big and twice as strong. Plus, they can score and are usually faster.”
