Manchester City ended their 2024 year with a 2-0 victory against Leicester City, marking the 19th matchday in the Premier League season. Reflecting on the series of less-than-ideal performances by the Citizens, one of the team’s key players shared his thoughts in an interview with the Daily Mail.

“For some players, it’s been really tough. The season started okay with the first four weeks, but then we hit a patch where we faced problems and were playing too many games,” said Kevin De Bruyne as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“We have to play regardless, especially when there are no other options. The players took on that burden, and I hope that in the new year, injured players will come back and we can regain our form as a team. That would be a big help,” continued the Belgian midfielder.
“We’ve experienced many good moments. We know how to win games. However, we weren’t winning at the time. These things happen, and we must acknowledge that our opponents are good and perhaps in better form. We have to do our job, and that’s what we are trying to do, hoping things will improve,” explained De Bruyne.
Man City is currently positioned sixth in the league with 31 points, trailing leaders Liverpool by 14 points.
