Manchester United's Recent Financial Missteps

Manchester United has recently demonstrated a rather hasty transfer strategy. Old Trafford has seen the arrival of players whose price tags far exceeded their actual on-field contributions. A prime example of this is Antony, for whom the Red Devils shelled out nearly 100 million euros. The Brazilian has never replicated the form he showcased in Amsterdam.

Antony isn’t alone in this regard. Another criticized acquisition is Casemiro, whose tenure in Manchester has been negatively received not only by fans of The Red Devils but also by the club’s owner. Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes that signing the experienced midfielder was a massive error. The Brazilian international was deemed excessively costly and, on top of that, was considered too old at the time of his transfer.

Ratcliffe sees no reason for Casemiro to continue his career at Old Trafford. The 32-year-old is expected to be sold, and according to Whitwell, the decision has effectively been made. The former Real Madrid player’s contract runs for another year and a half, until the end of the 2025/26 season. Clubs from Saudi Arabia are particularly interested in acquiring him.
