Rodri Responds to Ronaldo’s Comments
It has been just over two months since the Ballon d’Or ceremony took place. Yet, the topic of the event, held on October 28th at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet, continues to generate discussion. Representatives from Real Madrid were notably absent – the club asserted that Vinicius Junior deserved the top honor. Among those supporting this view was Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, the actual Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri, has decided to address Ronaldo’s remarks in an interview with Diario AS:
“It was surprising to me because he knows better than anyone how this award works and, more importantly, how the winner is chosen,” said the Spaniard. “This year, the journalists who voted decided that I should win. These are likely the same journalists who, at some point, voted for him. I imagine he agreed with them back then,” added the Ballon d’Or winner.
Rodri also acknowledged that winning the award has affected his life significantly:
“Yes, it has changed my life. I’ve talked about it with the people around me. Maybe I wasn’t fully aware of it when I won, but the Ballon d’Or has changed my life. Going out in public isn’t the same anymore. Many things I could do before, I obviously can’t do now. But well, it’s for a good reason. It’s a memorable moment,” concluded the 28-year-old.
