The partnership between Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé has not been a happy one. This was evident once again yesterday. The Frenchman missed a penalty in the match against Athletic de Bilbao. Consequently, the Spanish media have been harsh on Mbappé.

Mbappé Faces Criticism After Missed Penalty

“Rarely have we seen such a collapse in top-tier football,” remarks Marca with biting criticism. “A Thanksgiving turkey has more confidence than Kylian. Some people are comparing his start to that of Zidane. Zidane’s start wasn’t great either, but it was due to adjustment issues. Mbappé misses everything, even penalties. He has played almost every game, but there hasn’t been a glimpse of the Mbappé we saw at PSG.”

Mundo Deportivo labels the striker’s poor form as ‘very remarkable’. “His performance was glaring not only because of the missed penalty but also due to his overall poor play. His frustrations are nothing new. At PSG, he also missed two of his first four penalties. The French striker sees no light at the end of the tunnel and was once again a negative standout. Just like a week ago at Anfield. Mbappé was invisible the entire evening,” the sports publication observes.

“Another nightmare for Mbappé,” writes Diario AS. “The Mbappé saga is turning into a horror film. San Mamés also swallowed him up: he missed another penalty, worsening his personal crisis. The beginning of Mbappé’s era at Real Madrid is an endless loop of offside goals, squandered chances, missed penalties, and more self-inflicted troubles.”

Kylian Mbappé has entered Area 51 and is now unable to leave.”
