Tusker FC have signalled their intent ahead of the new season by landing the signature of Vincent Otieno Owino. A two-capped Harambee Stars midfielder who joins from relegated side Nairobi City Stars. This acquisition marks the Brewers’ first major move in the transfer window as they look to bolster their squad for a renewed title challenge against fierce rivals Gor Mahia and Kenya Police FC.

Owino joins Tusker on a two-year deal after an impressive stint at Nairobi City Stars. There, his performances stood out even as the club struggled. His transfer comes amidst reported interest from other top-flight clubs, including Bandari and Gor Mahia. But it was Tusker’s ambition and history that ultimately swayed the midfielder.

The club’s head coach, Charles Okere, praised Owino’s work ethic and potential. He highlighted his balance, grit, and intelligence as key assets for Tusker’s midfield.

Strengthening for the Title Race

Tusker finished a disappointing fourth last season, prompting the club’s management to initiate a rebuild. The Brewers are determined to avoid another trophyless campaign and have identified midfield as a critical area for improvement. Tusker’s move for Owino is a clear message to their rivals that they mean business in the upcoming season. Kenya Police emerged as a surprise team of the season by winning their first ever title.

Record holders Gor Mahia will be looking to get back to glory after a season where they lost both the league title and the cup trophy. Tusker has to dig deep and prepare for the upcoming season as best as they can. A rebuild starting with Vincent is just what they need.

Owino was a standout performer for Nairobi City Stars, finishing as their top scorer in the 2023/24 FKF Premier League season with eight goals. A remarkable feat for a midfielder. In the 2024/25 campaign, he continued to impress with five league goals. Underlining his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively. His tireless engine, eye for goal, and versatility make him a valuable addition to Tusker’s squad.

Owino’s call-up to the national team for the 2024 African Nations Championship qualifiers further attests to his quality and growing reputation.

With Owino’s arrival, Tusker FC have not only strengthened their midfield but also sent a strong warning to Gor Mahia and Kenya Police. The Brewers are gearing up for a serious title challenge in the 2025/26 season.
