Which Team Is Most Likely to Win La Liga?
La Liga is dominated by just two teams: Real Madrid and Barcelona, the two most famous clubs in Spain with the biggest stadiums. They almost always qualify for the Champions League, generate the highest match day income and are the biggest earners from TV rights. Real Madrid have won the Spanish League 34 times, while Barcelona have been the champions in 26 seasons.
So, usually, when making your bets, you can focus on these two clubs. However, Barcelona is having a poor season by their standards. They have some problems off the field and have sold their best players.
Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez have left the club, and some of their other long-standing players are reaching the end of their careers.
We must point out something. When you are considering your Spanish football predictions, nothing is certain in sport. There can be unexpected results and the favourites don’t always win matches or the league. In fact, Atletico Madrid won La Liga in the 2020/21 season and were the champions of Spain in 2013/2014.
Real Madrid or Barcelona are the only other champions in the last ten years. One of the two huge clubs has finished first or second in all but one season this century.
We can’t provide a definitive answer to the question regarding the winners of La Liga. However, Real Madrid is looking most likely to win the La Liga title this season. In early February, they were the league leaders, six points ahead of Sevilla.
It’s three points for a win and one point for a draw. Incidentally, Barcelona were three places and 15 points adrift of Real Madrid.
How Did We Choose Our La Liga Predictions?
When we make Spanish football predictions (both La Liga and La Liga 2 predictions), there are several important factors to consider.
There are 20 La Liga teams, and the top four qualify for the Champions League, which brings together the biggest clubs in Europe. The competition is as high-profile as can be, so the teams that qualify on a regular basis can afford to pay the wages to attract the best players.
There is a direct relationship between players’ wages and league positions in most years. Atletico Madrid was the exception to the rule, but the wealthiest clubs could be included in your La Liga predictions. That leads us again in normal circumstances to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
History and Past Winners
After Real Madrid and Barcelona, the most successful clubs are Atletico Madrid with 11 titles and Athletic Bilbao with ten titles. Deportivo La Coruna were the champions in 1999/2000 as outsiders and were not popular Primera Division predictions.
Valencia won the league in 2001 and 2004. No other clubs have won La Liga this century, so are unlikely to be one of your predictions. If you are unsure which team to bet on, you could focus on Liga 2 predictions.
Clearly, the team with the best players should be at the centre of many La Liga predictions. As we mentioned earlier, Barcelona has recently sold three of their best players.
Cristiano Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to Juventus, and he was one of the two best players in the world at his peak, with Lionel Messi.
Even so, Real Madrid has still got the strongest squad, and several of their players are Spanish internationals. So, in terms of player ability, Real Madrid a potential champion.
La Liga Tips
The Spanish top division is one of the most popular football competitions for betting. That means there is a demand for La Liga tips. There are plenty of services that provide advice about the result of matches and which team are contenders for the title.
These can also be useful for Liga 2 predictions if you wish to place bets on that league. However, the most popular tips are used for the Primera Division predictions, which is an alternative name for La Liga.
How to Bet on La Liga

You can also bet on matches in La Liga on live betting platforms. If there is no live streaming, bookmakers display a graphical representation of the action and live match data. You also have the option to cash out your bets before the final outcome.
Bookmakers issue betting for the outright winners of La Liga at the start of the season. The odds are updated after each group of fixtures, so you can always see the favourites. Even towards the season, there is an interest in predictions if the title winners have not been decided.
La Liga Predictions FAQs
Here are the answers to some common questions about predictions for La Liga.
The first matchday of fixtures in La Liga takes place in August. Each club plays each other twice over the course of the season, which ends in May. This is the standard round-robin format.
At the time of writing, Real Madrid is the favourite to win the title in Spain. They were the favourites at the start of the season, and no other team have had lower odds so far during the 2021/22 campaign. Of course, this can change as the season progresses, but given the team’s form that there are a few months to go, we can say that this is somewhat unlikely.
In the event of two teams winning the same number of points, the team with the best goal difference from the matches between those teams wins La Liga. There are a number of additional tie-breakers if the teams can’t be separated using the initial criteria.
Lionel Messi is the top scorer in the history of La Liga, with 474 goals in 520 appearances for Barcelona. However, as he left Barcelona last year, this season’s title goes to Rea’s Karim Benzema this season. He has played in 23 games and managed to score 19 times so far.
