World Cup Groups Predictions
Only two nations from each of the eight groups progress to the knockout stages of the tournament. So we have put together some World Cup predictions for 2022 since it’s too early to predict groups’ performance for the World Cup 2026.
Group A
Hosts Qatar are the number one seed in Group A but even the help of home support might not be enough for them to finish top. Ecuador and Senegal both looked good in qualifying. But the Netherlands will be the favorite to lead the way.
Group B
England is one of the favorites to win the whole thing, so they should finish top of Group B. The USA will put up a good fight, as will Iran. But the fourth team is unknown at the moment. The European qualifying playoff final is still to be played in June.
Group C
Argentina should be able to finish top of Group C thanks to the talent of Lionel Messi and the rest of the squad. Mexico and Poland will have to fight it out for a second, while Saudi Arabia is expected to finish bottom.
Group D
World Cup holders France will have to face Denmark in Group D and will be wary of the Scandinavian side after their European Championship heroics. They should both finish above Tunisia and the winner of the AFC/CONMEBOL playoff winners.
Group E
This group looks very tough with Spain and Germany fighting it out for a top spot. Japan will do well to progress instead either of them. And that should be the case for the OFC/CONCACAF playoff winners as well.
Group F
Belgium should not have too much trouble winning Group F ahead of a three-way battle for second place. Morocco, Croatia, and Canada will look at progress as an achievement.
Group G
Brazil has a fairly tough Group G to navigate but should be able to finish top. That will leave Serbia, Cameroon, and Switzerland to battle it out for second place that will see them go through to the round of 16.
Group H
This will probably be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Cup and his Portugal side should finish top of Group H. But there will be some stern tests along the way. South Korea, Ghana, and Uruguay are all capable of pulling off a surprise.
World Cup Quarter Finals Predictions
A lot can happen in the group stage and Round of 16 at World Cups. But it is possible to predict who might make it to the last eight and go further.
South American clubs haven’t done too well at the finals in recent times. But Argentina may be able to make it through to the last four. Especially if Messi’s teammates can up their game to send him off in glory.
Spain and Brazil could meet in the quarter-finals, which would be a very exciting match to look forward to. The South Americans are World Cup royalty. But it is Spain that could prevail here, thanks to their exciting young squad.
There could be another big showdown with France facing England in the last eight. Both sides have some world-class players to call on, but if they were to meet it might well be France that goes through.
Belgium might have to go through Portugal if they want to make it to the latter stages of this World Cup. There are definitely players available to do that. However, it would also be an epic meeting between the two in the quarter-finals.
World Cup Semi-Finals Predictions
World Cup predictions are always difficult so far ahead of the competition. But if the four countries we have profiled make it through to the semi finals, we will be treated to two excellent matches.
If Spain continues their current trajectory it will fancy its chances against Argentina. While France might disappoint Belgium yet again at a major international tournament.
World Cup Final Prediction
If our World Cup predictions come true it will be Spain playing France for the chance to become World champions. That would be a mouth-watering final and could see the re-emergence of Spain as a major force in football after some years in the doldrums.
